Story - Iron Chef

In my Design Basics class I came up with a story idea about a young boy who has a medical condition that requires him to constantly eat in order to prevent himself from passing out. Coming from a well off family, his parents hire an inventor to create a cooking robot who will be able to follow the boy around and feed him all the time. Because the boy's parents had isolated him for so long due to his condition, they developed the robot to also function as a friend with real feelings and emotions.

The robot and the boy have an awesome friendship. Inevitably, since the robot's purpose is to cook, together they developed an interest in the robots ability and make up recipes and enter contests anonymously for fun. However, the parents later decide to have the boy enter school and tie his life up in other activities so the time for fun and cooking diminishes. At the same time, the robot realizes his new passion to become a chef, which conflicts with his sole purpose to provide for the boy. Older, less prone to faintness from hunger, and full of compassion for his friend robot, the boy urges the robot on to pursue its dream to become a chef. So, sadly, they part ways.

However, in the competitive and harsh culinary world, there is much distaste for a robot (who is unable to taste its own food) to become a chef. After many years, the robot returns to the boy unsuccessful and broken. However, much older now, the boy decides to venture forth with his robot as a team and together they stir things up in the culinary world.

I have many iterations of different story lines for these characters. Some focusing more on the boy's isolation exacerbated by the presence of the robot.

Also have an idea of a dog robot fridge that runs around them.

Here are some drawings and paintings I did thinking about this story for Design Basics. Still need to improve on the design of this too old school looking robot (though I don't want him to look too creepy and human either).
